Homework Hotline
This is a reminder to parents that most teachers who give homework are posting the assignments daily on Homework Hotline, which can be accessed from the top of both the PRSD website and our own website. Parents can also change the week or month to look ahead for upcoming due dates for major assignments.
Parents can view homework assignments nightly by visiting the PRSD main page at www.prsd.ab.ca, or the WCS website at www.worsleyschool.net

Grade 9 and Work Experience
Grade 9 students who might be interested in taking Work Experience when they enter Sr. High are reminded that they must have completed the CTS course CTR1010 first. This short but valuable course is a prerequisite for any Work Experience course in High School, and can be obtained from the office.
Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP)
The Registered Apprenticeship Program is a program available to high school students who may plan to go into the trades when they finish school. The program allows students to register as an apprentice while still in school, and work with a journeyman to begin learning the skills of a particular trade. RAP students not only receive credits while in high school but also begin to accumulate hours towards their apprenticeship.
Interested students need to have taken a job preparation course called CTR 1010 and ideally have done Work Experience. Currently we are trying to seek out journeyman in our area who would be interested in working with our students in the RAP program. A presentation about the program is also being arranged through our Assistant Superintendent for our high school students. In the meantime, if you are a journeyman, student or parent who is interested in obtaining more information, please contact Mr. Willis at the school; you may also get information at www.tradesecrets.gov.ab.ca
Photo Contest
Our annual photography contest, sponsored by
Worsley OnLine, has many great entries from students, staff and community members. Last year's winners included Kelsey Lund and Delainah Velichka. See all the entries, and then enter your photograph in this year's contest!

Dress Code
Students are reminded that they are not to wear headphones or sunglasses while in school. Clothing which contains profanity or obscene material, or which advertises illegal activity, is not acceptable for wear while in school. Parents will be contacted as necessary.
Calculators in High School
Students in grades 7, 8, and 9 are required to have a simple scientific calculator for use in math class. (A graphing calculator is not necessary).
Students taking Pure or Applied Math 10, 20 and 30 are required to have a TI83+ graphing calculator. Only the TI83+ brand is acceptable. Grade 10 students who are enrolling in Math 14 and 24 need just a simple scientific calculator. (For this reason, grade 10 students should wait until they are sure which course they are taking before purchasing a new calculator).
Riding the Bus
If your elementary child will not be riding the bus to their home on a given day, please remember that a note for the teacher as well as for to the bus driver is required. Junior/Senior students are required to have a note for the bus driver only.
Student Attendance
All students must have a signed note from their parent, or a phone call, when returning from an absence or leaving the school. Sr. High students who have returned the signed form for open campus lunchtimes are allowed to leave for the lunch break, but that's all. In addition, all students must sign out of the school when leaving. Sr. High students who sign out and miss a scheduled class without a note will be considered 'skipping'.

Booster Club
The Worsley School Sports Booster Club is a non-profit organization set up of parent volunteers who wish to make sports programs available to all children. The monies we receive through fund raising, grants and generous donations enable children in our community to participate in school team sports. We feel that all children should have equal opportunity to play on sports teams without money being an issue. Sports fees help to pay for uniform rental, referees, sports and referee clinics, a portion of tournament fees, and equipment expenses. Without the Sports Booster Club in effect, school sports fees could be escalated, which would possibly deter some children from being a part of a team.
Anyone wishing to become a voice on the Worsley School Sports Booster Club is welcome to attend the meetings.
