What's been updated, or added in the past while,
in addition to our regular updates. Check this page often!
WCS OnLine provides information and resources for students, parents, and teachers, an on-line Yearbook and newsletter, and fun things to do. At over 3000 pages, our site is updated daily with new projects, activities, interactive pages, lessons, and photos!

Our first Time Capsule has been released! This one was made by the 1997 Grade 9 class; copies of their DVD movie are now available. Find out more here.

Beginning in the fall of 2009, all new pages on our site will be made to fit a screen resolution width of 1024 pixels, as most of our visitors now use a resolution at least that large. This will allow for wider pages and less scrolling down the page. (Where you're working right now, ... we checked it for you!)

Science and Math

Newly added material:

Learn how scientific notation works. Find out how high you can count. Get some tips for using Photoshop Elements. Discover the facts about the world's largest arthropod. Find out why adding baking soda to your peas will make them greener. Learn about thermoelectricity and semiconductors when we describe how a wood stove fan works. Discover how you can see the iron metal in your food! Check out our Extreme Machines page and find out about Big Brutus, one of the world's largest electric shovels. Revisit our Mars page to see new close-up photographs of the red planet. Find out how to measure the speed of light using a microwave oven!

Language Arts, Social Studies, and the Arts

Newly added material:

Download the free program Seterra which quizzes you on geographic facts from around the world. Read about the Flemish artist Peter Paul Rubens, who gave us the word 'rubenesque', and view some of his most famous paintings. Make your own topographic map and learn how to read one. Use photo essays in Sr. High English to illustrate themes and emotions. Discover all the everyday phrases we use or read, that were first penned by William Shakespeare! Language Arts and English students can learn about symbolism ... what it is, and how to use it in their writing. We also have a page explaining synonyms, antonyms and homonyms, with examples. In Social Studies, we completely rewrote our page about the Canadian Shield, with more information and pictures.
We also have information about Canada's favourite tourist spot, Niagara Falls, as well as coal mining in Estevan, Saskatchewan, and the unique Grad ritual of Kenmare High School in North Dakota.

Information
We now have a selection of forms on-line for your convenience. Get yours in early!

Grade 12 students and their parents can now access information about how to help finance a college or university education, and about specific bursaries and scholarships available to our students. Newly added to our Science section is information about various legal and illegal drugs and how they are used, including photos and descriptions of their effects on the body. This information is designed for concerned parents.
Students can also learn about sexually transmitted diseases in Alberta, and how to avoid them.

Our annual photography contest has winners for 2008-09. See the winners for 2008-2009; then send us your entry for this year's contest. It's open to students, staff, parents and the Worsley area community.

We've just added more great old pictures to the Vault.

Check out our Worsley School calendars ... they make great gifts!

We have a wonderful collection of old volleyball and basketball uniforms that we need help identifying. Visit our Wildcat Sports History page to see them on display; one might be your old uniform! Tell us what you remember!

We were visited recently by Martin Blakesley, Kenda Lubeck, Heather (Sargeant) Morrow, Cliff Ducharme, Benji Basnett, & Justin Jensen; see the messages they left on our Old Friends page.

We have a new yearbook DVD containing all of our old yearbooks, from 1997-98 right up to the 2007-08 edition.

Each yearbook on the DVD contains all the original material that was online, including complete Grad sections, and all of the free extras to download.

This new collection is available now. It will open on any computer with a DVD player.
Order yours here. The cost is just $20.

They make great gifts. And not just for dummies!

Parents can learn why calculators are important in the classroom ... and when they shouldn't be used. We also have information about calculators needed in Jr. and Sr. High Math courses.
